About Us

About Orthopedics Online

We are passionate about making research easily accessible to massage therapists, and helping them incorporate it into their practice in a meaningful way. We want RMT’s to be able to refresh and expand their knowledge base in anatomy, kinesiology and orthopathology. We believe this will help to ensure patients receive the best possible care as well as help to increase our credibility in the larger healthcare community.

Corporate Social Opportunity

This is also known as corporate social responsibility. As a corporation, we strongly believe in the importance of giving back and reinvesting in our world and our profession. Orthopedics Online is committed to donating a minimum of 2.5% of our annual pre-tax profits to registered charities.

About the Creator

I know it’s hard to stay up to date on the latest research, and sifting through journal articles isn’t something that is easily incorporated into our lives. I created Orthopedics Online so every massage therapist could have convenient access to research and continuing education credits that add value to their practice.

After I became a registered massage therapist, I continued to try and educate myself because I was convinced my school had given me a solid foundation but I needed more knowledge to be the therapist my patients deserved. The more I studied, the more I felt I had to learn. I started reading research articles, and found that much of the information I had learned in school was already outdated. I assumed I wasn’t the only one that wanted a refresher and an update on the areas I treated most in practice. I thought creating this website could be a valuable tool for a lot of people. I wasn’t about to dive in without knowing what I was doing, so I spent a few years learning about how to deliver online courses before developing the content. It took a few years to get the site where it is, and it will always be evolving to continue to provide useful information to RMTs.

A little bit of background on me: In 2006, I graduated from the 3000 hour program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster, BC. Shortly after, I started a wonderful practice in North Burnaby; my patients are still my favourite part of my job. They motivate my research and course development because I want to make sure they are getting the best possible care. Since 2012, I’ve been teaching at the Vancouver Career College in Burnaby and in 2016 I became the Program Coordinator. My students do a great job of keeping me sharp. I’m also working toward my Provincial Instructor’s Diploma in adult education, as well as my Bachelor’s degree in Health Science.

I love my career – every part of it, but I do have to say a special thank you to all those people in my life who remind me to have balance. Thank you for going paddleboarding and hiking with me, enjoying wine and cheese with me, and showing me that play is more important than work. Thank you for making my life rich with love, friendship and adventures. I wouldn’t trade you for the world.
